Stupid Stupid Cinemaonline.com.my
I hate cinema.com.my.
Why?
All I wanted to do was check the show times for the movie "300". Got to the page. And it was full of ad. More than usual now with DiGi "bubbles" popping up all over.
I don't mind this if I can just get to see what is the show times and get out fast.
However just like last week, the show times were obscured by an ad by Gurmit Singh (Phu Chu Kang).

Clicking on the close button got me this.

DAMN!!!
The ad window is minimized but leaves a white shadow covering the show times.
Boy was I mad!!
So you know what I did?
I had to View->Source to see and search in the HTML for the show times. Sheeeessh.

Brainless web design

I wanted to watch Charlotte Web today at TGV KLCC today. So I went to http://www.cinema.com.my
It was some time ago when I last used this website.
Saw that it was more ads than last I remembered.
Click on KL Cinemas (drop down list)
Clicked on TGV (drop down list)
And walla!
It listed the shows for TGV KLCC for today.
However, I was mad because there was a Flash ad covering the times the show was supposed to be shown. 7.xx. Incidentally the flash was Gurmit Singh promoting cinema online. I love Phua Chu Kang and all but after this, I'm afraid the bad memory and Phua Chu Kang just sticks..
Bloody hell!! There was no way to close the stupid flash box. I tried using IE7 and FireFox. Both had the same results. Though FireFox manage to minimize the Flash but the background "shadow" still blocked me from seeing the show times.
My advise is, it's ok to fill your website full of ads. But please, please please!! Don't block important parts of the screen - especially the show times!!!
Update:
Just for Jenny who could not see the blocking flash. This is the page.

Teacher's Selling Nasi Lemak
- NST (25 February 2007) - Junk Food Right at the Doorstep
Yeah I forgot about Nasi Lemak as a type of fast food too. It's definitely unhealthy - especially the one that is cooked in coconut milk (which is how most Nasi Lemak sellers prepare them anyway).
I don't think it's a good idea to allow teachers to sell Nasi Lemak. Kids look to their teachers for guidance. Guiding them into the world of obesity and heart attacks in their later life is definitely not the way to go.

Let's have an anti Fast Food campaign

I'm starting an anti-fast-food campaign. This is probably just one insignificant blog but I truly believe fast food are silent killers in Malaysia. Let's shine a spotlight on this hidden menace and be more conscious and aware of it.
Malaysia wants to help its people kick the fast-food habit.Officials are considering a ban on fast-food advertisements during children's television shows, as part of a campaign encouraging Malaysians to develop healthier habits, like exercising and eating nutritious food. They say almost 40 percent of the country's population is obese, up from 20 percent ten years ago.The fast food industry says it's willing to work with the government in its campaign. A spokesman for McDonald's in Malaysia says the industry isn't likely to suffer any financial impact as long as the ban doesn't bar all advertising. He says some Malaysians head to McDonald's for a meal an average of more than twice a month.
- article from FoxCarolina
" Isn't likely to suffer any financial impact" ??

Good!! So they won't mind if we kick up the notch and launch an anti fast food campaign over the net too! :)
Feel free to use the Tak Nak pictures anywhere on your blog if you support this campaign. I actually think that these fast food are worse than cigarrettes. I mean, you don't see many young kids smoking but I'm sure there are hundreds of thousand Malaysian kids taking fast food everyday.
Allowing big fast food companies to sponsor kids' shows and cartoons aren't helping either!
I'm glad the government is taking notice. But let us be proactive ourselves and stop taking fast food.
Or at least use moderation and reduce eating it to at least maybe the one or two rare occasion. That's what I'm going to do anyway. Dying of heart attack is tragic and definitely not finger licking good!!
