Pompous Rapid KL Drivers

It's bad enough the new KL Rapid has teething problems. Now we have stupid attitudes of bus drivers to contend with.

I was waiting near the Pearl Point bus stop at 8.30am. The all new KL Rapid no 61 bus came and drove past a group of would be passengers, despite frantic waving of hands to get it to stop. It was not a 'test' bus because there were passengers in it.

I could see the eyes of the driver look at me and as well as the people waiting there and just ignored us as if we were invisible!!. I didn't know that drivers now can pick and choose their passengers.

Heaven forbid these are ex-tack drivers!

New Bus System in KL Ineffective

medium_bus2.2.jpg

Mohamad Ali said Rapid KL would also be introducing new buses in stages to replace all the existing 964 buses in its fleet, by September this year.

He said the introduction of the new integrated public transporation system was also expected to increase the number of rider-ship from 180,000 currently by two fold in a couple of years.

“There will be no reason for people to drive to work into KL City once we have put our plans to work,” he added

I don't know about you but personally I think the new bus system stinks!!

I actually had to take 3 busses now instead of my customary one direct bus into KL town and to my workplace.

I told this to one of the many "helpful" KL Rapid who was preaching to all bus passengers of how fast and efficient the new system is.

According to him, even though it's now 3 intermediate busses but the busses are faster and more regular.

Well if that was the case, I want to know why it took my 2 hours and 15 minutes just to get to KL from Old Klang Road on Saturday afternoon.

Granted it was not a typical bus day as it was raining very heavily that afternoon. But it showed how incovenient the system is. I had to get off my comfortable seat (first bus) to get off into the pouring rain, Squeeze into an overcrowded bus stop at Batu 3 in Old Klang Road to wait for the connecting bus!! After more than half an hour I gave up and took the Metrobus (not part of the Rapid system) to get to town after seeing no KL Rapid busses stop at that place.

I just don't see how getting off and catching multiple connecting busses can ever be more convenient for passengers.

Sure, it's probably in it's teething stages and facing initial problems. Let's hope all the problems will be ironed out later (something I have very little confidence will happen :( )

One word for the 3 day trial of the new system: STUPID
hope that will be upgraded later to LESS STUPID and Bearable

That's the warning issued by the Government. So you better be careful of what you say on your blog as you are liable to get into potentially big trouble for posting 'untruths'.

Sad to see that the government view us bloggers as more of a potential nuisance than anything else.
