Brainless web design

I wanted to watch Charlotte Web today at TGV KLCC today. So I went to http://www.cinema.com.my
It was some time ago when I last used this website.
Saw that it was more ads than last I remembered.
Click on KL Cinemas (drop down list)
Clicked on TGV (drop down list)
And walla!
It listed the shows for TGV KLCC for today.
However, I was mad because there was a Flash ad covering the times the show was supposed to be shown. 7.xx. Incidentally the flash was Gurmit Singh promoting cinema online. I love Phua Chu Kang and all but after this, I'm afraid the bad memory and Phua Chu Kang just sticks..
Bloody hell!! There was no way to close the stupid flash box. I tried using IE7 and FireFox. Both had the same results. Though FireFox manage to minimize the Flash but the background "shadow" still blocked me from seeing the show times.
My advise is, it's ok to fill your website full of ads. But please, please please!! Don't block important parts of the screen - especially the show times!!!
Update:
Just for Jenny who could not see the blocking flash. This is the page.

Visit Malaysia 2007
I am sure most Malaysians know it's Visit Malaysia 2007 year and it coincides with our 50th year of independance.
Not to put down the government efforts but as a typical Malaysian I do not 'feel' much has been done to promote the event. Sure we see the posters everywhere. But is that it?
I'm sure lots of money is being poured into the campaign but I just don't see the net effect after a month into 2007.
Probably it's just me.
I'm just not seeing the extra hundreds or thousands of additional tourists that has been attracted here by our tourism efforts.
Still, the year is just beginning. There's still time for tourism to pick up.

No more P2P Streamyx users!
Let’s think of Streamyx connection similar to that of a shared water pipe.
TM Net estimates that around 12% users consume about 80% of the total available bandwidth.Streamyx’s current policy does not limit the amount of data they download.from TmNet'sHowever it would seem that judging from comments from fellow Malaysian surfers, bit torrent downloads have been reduced to almost zero from Streamyx server side. They do not limit the amount of data you download but the can sure reduced the water from the pipe down to a trickle..

Piracy Dead in Petaling Street

This new sign is kinda big and can be found near the entrance of Petaling Street.
I noticed that the street itself is clear of any stall hawking pirated CDs.
Does this mean piracy is dead in Petaling Street?
Far from it!
There is always boys who carry CD albums standing around showing you the latest cinema shows on DVD. And there is also the shop buildings (not stalls) nearby selling pirated CDs and doing brisk sales. Below is an example..

I won't say exactly where this shop is becaue I don't want those pirates knocking on my door. But I can say that there is more than one shop similiar to this and they are all in Petaling Street.
So the new big anti piracy signs are pretty much useless I guess. :)

Bigfoot in Malaysia
The authorities are actually paying some serious attention to the alleged sightings of "Bigfoot" in Johor. The appearance of Bigfoot was reported by some newspapers I read some months back.
Recently I read this from AFP:
Malaysia's southern Johor state government has said it would launch its first official effort to track down the mysterious "Bigfoot" creatures said to be roaming its jungles.
Johor Chief Minister Abdul Ghani Othman said Thursday that scientists and national park officials would try to track the hairy man-like beasts, which have generated intense interest from wildlife experts at home and internationally.
"We have obtained descriptions of the creature from those who claimed to have seen it... we hope the expedition will be able to prove its existence," Abdul Ghani told the state Bernama news agency.
Wow!! The first appearance of Bigfoot was in the US. How did they migrate all the way to Johor? (assuming this is the same Bigfoot or the same family member of the sighted one).
Anyway, with Bigfoot or not, I wish Johoreans, and those who are Chinese a very HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR.
